Parent Page

On this page, you will find a few links to help support your child in the area of literacy. Some links will remain throughout the school year, while others might come and go. Please check them out and let me know what you think!

You will notice many pink buttons throughout my site. They are all clickable links!

I'm clickable!

A great website that you can rely on for nearly any type of literacy support and/or questions you may have regarding your child is Reading Rockets. The link below is focused on educational literacy apps that cover the five pillars of reading: phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary and comprehension.  Apps are fun and motivating for young learners!

Looking for an online leveled library for your child ? Look no further! Raz-Kids includes a collection of leveled audio books. With Raz-Kids students have the option of listening to books read aloud to them to hear modeled fluency, read books on their own, or record themselves reading. There are also corresponding comprehension quizzes after each book. Teachers and parents can quickly check student progress through the progress monitoring system. Students are also motivated through a reward system as they read and finish each book/quiz.

Another website that will engage your child while allowing them to practice reading and comprehension skills is Tween Tribune. TweenTribune is a free, not-for-profit online newspaper for kids, ages 8–15. It is updated daily with stories from the Associated Press that are chosen based on relevancy to pre-adolescents. This is a great way to supplement your child's learning and keep them reading over the summer!
