On this page, I wanted to highlight some additional websites and individuals that have researched and studied literacy and technology intersection.  I have included links to two experts as well as a few peers I have worked with in my Master's program and their websites! I feel that each of these individuals and the included websites are very valuable to teaching literacy and technology! I hope you find them beneficial!

Lexia Reading Core5® supports parents and educators in providing differentiated literacy instruction for students of all abilities in grades pre-K–5. Lexia’s research-proven program provides explicit, systematic, personalized learning in the six areas of reading instruction, targeting skill gaps as they emerge, and providing parents and teachers with the data and student-specific resources they need for individual or small-group instruction.

Code.org has a vision that every student in every school will have the opportunity to learn computer science, such as biology, chemistry or algebra. Code.org provides the leading curriculum for K-12 computer science. Students can create games, apps, computer drawings and more!

Meet the Experts!

Lisa Guernsey is director of the Early Education Initiative and the Learning Technologies Project in the Education Policy Program at New America. She leads teams of writers and analysts to examine policies, tell stories, and generate ideas on new approaches to help disadvantaged students succeed.  She also explores and shares ways that both parents and educators can safely and effectively integrate literacy and technology at home and in the classroom. Rebecca Silverman is a former elementary school teacher and an associate professor in the College of Education at the University of Maryland. She specializes in language and literacy development and instruction. She also focuses on children with learning differences and children from low-income and English-learning backgrounds. She has many simple, yet helpful ways that parents and educators can utilize multimedia technology everyday in ways that are educational and fun.
